What is African time to our people today
This is the 5th installment in our journey to explore time. We desire to see time as God sees time. We need to receive and relate with time as the Giver of time has instructed. This is the most misunderstood gift and we need to correct the error. My question today is: What is African time to our people today?
Time consciousness is the bedrock of civilization. For African Renaissance to be realized in our time we need to reconcile with time as our ancestors did in the days of the African Empires.
There is no Civilization nor Empire that has ruled in the past 6000 years without first becoming friends with time. When the twelve African Kingdoms ruled there was no concept of African Time.
African Time is a borrowed concept not older than 300 years. The narrative that Africans are laid back with no Time Consciousness does not hold water for a once Great Empire with warriors that moved with great speed. We would not have risen to rule the world in almost a thousand years while flirting with this friend called African Time.
African Time is the aftermath of slave period where Africans find one more time to get a grip of Unsupervised Time by their colonial Masters. It is a resting time they are declaring upon themselves after 400 years of forced labor. This is not our God given Heritage. Not at all, I refuse to inherit such a Post Slave Syndrome curse.
What adds salt to our wound is that the biggest adherents of African Time are the African Elite and Academia. African Politicians, African Business People, African Scientists, African Clergy are all holding dearly to this post colonial prize called African Time while the World Leaders are taking giant leaps in Conquering Time.
African Christian Churches are the biggest beneficiaries of African Time under the guise that it is ‘God’s Time’. Thereafter hoping for miracles to cover for the lost time of non-productivity.
This is the first group of people that need to teach us how to honor time the way God worked with time.
If we all believe in the accounts of Creation in Genesis: how would the Universe look like if it was Created using the so called African Time? Then why do we have to run the Continent Governments and African Projects using this curse that we call an inheritance?
We have become Chronologically Crippled, we are in the Chronos Comma, we are in Time Sleep and there is no one to heal us from this post slavery Demon. Even African Prisoners have a term called Doing Time in prison. Between Doing Time and African Time lies the whole African Talent. Who will wake us up from this slumber?
We have a great collection of all cultural, political and church excuses to waste time wherever we pass. In whatever we do time becomes the greatest casualty. If we lost 400 years to slavery then we should be respecting time more than any nation in the world to restore what has been lost.
And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.
Joel 2:25-26 KJV
Beloved Africa we have not lost lands or gold, we have lost Time in slavery and Colonization. If we cooperate with God in restoring years, months, weeks, days, hours and seconds…… And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed.
Joel 2:26 KJV
Then lands and gold shall return
Peace be upon you all. Arise to Time Consciousness. Return to Time as God Created it. Good night.
